I’m sitting in my basement listening to the Neil Young channel and right now, specifically, Van Morrison. Feels good. Quiet. I have the window cracked letting cool air float around me and a fuzzy fake Sherpa blanket that I was going to use to make into a sheep but didn’t wrapped around my feet. I feel tired but not sleepy tired — my body is very tired but my brain, unfortunately, not so much.

Just had to schooch through Bill Withers — too much funk. Also passed on Southern Man too. On to Pearl Jam — Just Breath — which is so perfect.

WHAT TO DO NOW?

I inspected books and found this random pile — RECOMMENDED READING? Ask Me About My Uterus really jumps out amongst the classics and/or otherwise tempting reads. Or a fun, inspiring puzzle? (You have to click the image to see the puzzle — sorry).

I also found myself wondering —

Why the hell do I have a book by Kathie Lee Gifford?!

My new best friend, Hector, a gnome, was appalled and I actually was embarrassed too. I didn’t even know what to say? Did someone give this to me?

No offense to KLG — holy shit — I am so glad I changed my given middle name (Leigh) to my maiden name (De Witt) so that I at least don’t have the coincidence of the same initials. A little offense though — I don’t know why — because I know that her life is more than her old tv show with Hoda drinking wine from 7 a.m. until whenever they were dragged off the stage — I’m sure they had decent tolerance levels and could probably plug on until the kids came home from school, and I’m not shaming day drinking — I mean — Terra, C’mon! But I did think it was a bit weird. Did anybody else think this too?

Next Question : If you’re looking for a nighttime snack that isn’t horrible for you — your might get bored/desperate enough to look for gummies in your med cabinet (sorry guys — not the fun gummies — although with this music I think I’d be enjoying myself a bit more).

All I came up with were these (see image) and thought . . .

Is it possible to OD on Zzzquil Melatonin gummies?

No — they are too sweet.

You’ll puke before you die.

It’s true.

Quick question to anybody else with a little time on their hands . . .

Which pose is best | A. Forward facing B. The Side glance. C. Backwards. D. Leg less?

Deep thoughts these days. Thinking the best bet is turning the lights down and just listening to Neil Young for a bit. Hope you are all staying safe! Miss you! I feel like I officially just turned into the person who takes pictures of their perfect latte and post it on Facebook. Oy.

I wake each morning with a strange delay — my body recognizes that it is morning, a new day, and I’m supposed to get up and get on with it. But after that momentary delay, I have an internal battle with my mind/anxiety about what it is exactly I NEED to do especially. I’ve long cleared out closets and scrubbed grout — not that there isn’t more I could find but it does lose its appeal after awhile. Do I want to hear the latest news knowing with grave certainty that today will not bring better news and then what?

I write all of this in a strange, kind of awkward acknowledgement that right now, I am fortunate. For the moment the scariness is not happening directly in my actual living room and that I can, although not exactly now or the foreseeable immediate future (in actual person), but nevertheless — connect with those I love and miss dearly. What I do with the sadness and fracturing of my heart and mind for those who cannot do this, I’m not sure?

One more day — check.

What cannot be cured, must be endured.  In Michigan that means the weather.  Get outside, trust me, it does make it better.

Instead of texting, meet up with a friend.  If that's not possible, make a phone call.  Voices are amazingly comforting.
