Reminders from Ella

ree

My family is in Utah. It is a little tradition we started about 3 years ago where Andre takes the girls to Utah for a little daddy daughter skiing before Christmas and I have some chill time at home to get ready for the holiday. Essentially I put the movie, The Family Stone, on continual loop, drink Ski Patrol, and wrap presents.

Last night I went to bed early for me -- pre midnight. I woke up to snow and my dogs softly snoring beside me. I checked my phone and got a message that confused me at first (see left).

Ella has a fish that she named Maya, but this wasn't really registering with me because the fish lives in her room and I never have much contact with it (her). So on first morning read, feed Maya, I was a little concerned about where Maya (my daughter) actually was. Wasn't she in Utah with them? Had they shipped her home? Light finally shone on the dimness of my brain and I remembered the fish. Then I realized I had forgotten the fish's full name -- it wasn't just Maya. I asked Ella and she responded, Maya Jackie Chan. Of course -- how could I forget that? Silly.

Please ignore the first conversation -- just wanted to have the cute little face of Ella included in the image.

What cannot be cured, must be endured.  In Michigan that means the weather.  Get outside, trust me, it does make it better.

Instead of texting, meet up with a friend.  If that's not possible, make a phone call.  Voices are amazingly comforting.
